I am joined today by Dr Nirala Jacobi, ND to discuss SIBO. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) has become a hot-button topic and is a relatively new label in the medical field. It has been implicated in IBS, IBD, leaky gut syndrome, autoimmune disease, skin issues and a host of other common illnesses.

On the show we discuss functional lab testing and how best to interpret them; why stool testing can’t test for SIBO and how SIBO differs from bowel dysbiosis. We talk about the different types of pathogens involved, the array of symptoms they produce and how to spot the difference. We dive into the most common causes and treatments. The involvement of the migrating motor complex (MMC),autoimmunity and how it becomes dysfunctional; and why prokinetics can be a lifesaver for many patients. Can surgery be a trigger for SIBO?

Hope you’re ready to deep-dive from a world expert on the subject…
